Noise Consultancy
With the regulations governing noise pollution changing on a regular basis, and noise as an individual item viewed as part of the ongoing environmental debate, it is has become a necessity not only to have planned solutions to potential problems, but to have the ability to resolve live issues in buildings or sites which were, in some instances, never designed to meet the criteria set out in todays standards.
To this end CLS Aberdeen provides what is in effect a ‘before and after’ service with regards to planning and prevention of noise related issues.
These services include;
Planning Application Surveys
Carried out to BS 8233 Standards as required in both Pan 56 (Scottish Office Planning Application Note) and World Heath Organisation Guidelines.
This service enables the progress of planning consent in most Scottish Regions, and gives our clients documented evidence on which to base the compliance of their particular application, be it a domestic or commercial development, the commercial applications often being related to BS4142.
Our remit here is to provide practical and affordable solutions not only to ensure the application progresses, but to offer the most economical and long term viable solution for your project. Often this involves liaison between the local planning offices and the on site contractors, as it is not uncommon for the technical details to become unclear between the issuing of the report and the actual construction.
Noise prevention at licensed and leisure properties – Abatement Orders
Often a site which has been operational for years can become affected by noise complaints from a new neighbour, or indeed fall foul of a new development at which proper measures have not been taken to ensure protection against noise. This is most common in city centres where the rapid development of flatted properties has seen a huge conflict arising between commercial or licensed operators and domestic owners demands.
Everyone is entitled, by law, to peace and quiet.
However, this does not mean a commercial operator has to cease trading just to satisfy a complainer. More often than not, simple protective measures can be installed to enable both parties to live side by side, and continue their individual business without conflict. Remember, a complaint can only be raised if the issue has validity, and if this is the case, then the EHO who has been allocated the complaint to resolve will be as happy to provide support to a publican as they will to a householder.
Sadly it is a fact that too often we only become involved after a noise abatement order has been served, creating stress and animosity between the parties and making a solution more difficult to achieve. In these situations a simple call or e mail to our office will ensure this situation does not arise, and our presented solutions will satisfy the requirements of the EHO to a point that the issue can be resolved quickly and without loss of business.
System Design
In addition to the planning and noise prevention services we provide, we also bring to your project our considerable experience in the designing of sound systems which can, if specified or installed carelessly, cause issues as soon as your doors open. Our team of experienced engineers will give you not only an economical solution, but build in the elements which will ensure, in conjunction with the likes of fire evacuation and noise at work requirements, that your project can start off by being compliant, and enable you to get on with the many other day to day requirements of running a business.
